INRTEK CASE STUDIES

Case Study 2
A "Just-in-time" Delivery Trucking Company

Isokinetics is a very effective tool to assess the physical capability of new hire or of an injured worker ready to return-to-work. We have numerous success stories. The data in this case study is from one of our clients, a "just-in-time" carrier (the test results include drivers and dockworkers), that delivers parts to industry - primarily the auto industry.

Figure 1 shows that the number of employees have increased from 1992 through 1995. Our isokinetic preplacement technology was implemented September 1, 1993 at about one-third of their locations. The other locations do require preplacement evaluations, but not our technology.

Figure 2 shows the average cost per claim has dramatically decreased since 1992.

Figure 3. When expressed on a per employee basis the decrease is even more dramatic since the number of employees has increased since 1992

Since September 1, 1993, we have evaluated approximately 1600 new hires. This represents about 25% of the total number of employees hired (6400) during the same time period. Approximately, 90% of the remaining employees (4800) not tested by INRTEK were required to participate in some form of preplacement physical capability evaluation.

Figure 4 shows that INRTEK tested employees account for 3% of the workers compensation costs in comparison to those not tested by INRTEK. Based on the hiring demographics this number should be about 25%.

Figure 5 shows that those tested by INRTEK had a total of 16 claims of which 3 (19%) were to the Knee, Shoulder and Back (KSB). The breakdown was similar for those not tested by INRTEK. The KSB data was looked at separately since our technology focuses on these three areas.

Figure 6 shows the Claims Summary for those tested by INRTEK in comparison to those not tested by INRTEK.
